At the BCCCA, students learn about the I.C.A.R.E. standards:  Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence, as employability skills.  Teachers are encouraged to recognize students who are following the I.C.A.R.E. standards by giving them an I.C.A.R.E. card to be displayed in the school for all to see.
August's focus is on Integrity, which can be summed up as "be honest and do what you say."  Under integrity, students learn the following:
*I show warmth, friendliness, and personal pride in all my actions.
*I maintain eye contact, a pleasant expression and calm demeanor, even in difficult situations.
*I offer to help teachers, peers, and visitors when possible.
*I respond to teacher concerns and requests in a timely manner.
*I keep my teacher informed of progress and delays.
